(S//NF) The Office of Inspector General (OIG) is investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding the death in U.S. custody of Iraqi detainee Manadal Al-Jamaidi, Al-Jamaidi was ca tured by a Navy Seal Team contingent on *igavemNrer 2003, and died at Abu Ghurayb prison, near Baghdad. A subsequent autopsy by a Medical Examiner from the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP) disclosed Al-Jamaidi suffered six broken ribs and numerous contusions prior to his death. The cause of death was determined to be "blunt force injuries complicated by compromised respiration;" the manner of death was described as homicide.
