This is a statement by a marine regarding their knowledge of detainee abuse. The Marine mentioned only knowing of one incident where a fellow Marine said "ass" to a detainee. The Marine mentioned detainee, Abdullah Tohtasinovich Magrupov, but did not link him to an incident of abuse.
Statement of sb,(7)(C) given on 9 July 2004:
1, (b)(7)1C) , have only witnessed one incident of cursing at a detainee. I was checking the water bull chlorine and a Marine said ass to a detainee. I
told the Marine not to do that anymore. He then asked me
who said not to curse at them anymore and I told him
General Mattis said that. He did not do it anymore. I
have not seen any other abuse of any kind just what I've
been told. I don't know of any other abuse. As for
detainee #0528 I did his pre interrogation screening on 7
July 2004 at 1320 and found no bruising at this time. He
also had no complaints at this time. He did not get a post interrogation screening because the Marines did not bring him by medical. I did rounds later that day at 1900 to 2020 and saw all the detainees because the Marines and I gave black socks to everyone so they can keep their water cool. I asked every detainee how they are doing and no one had any complaints. That is all I know.
