)REL TO USA AND MCFI) CEXC Analysis of Mosul Attack: The seat of the
explosion was in a seating area opposite the main serving area. The seat of the explosion,
blast pattern, and fragmentation effect was not consistent with that of rocket, mortar or
ground placed IED. 'The ground effect on the concrete floor was shallow and omni
directional. The fragmentation traveling forward towards the serving area completely
penetrated several metal kitchen appliances. The surrounding area was littered with blast
damaged tables and chairs, consistent with a high explosive event. Two chairs were
recovered in close proximity to the seat of the explosion, which had sustained extensive
,buckling to the leg support area
L TO USA AND MCFI) Individual body parts such as skull fragments, an ear, - .
eye lid, and other small unidentified parts were evenly spread throughout the blast areas.
Sniall body parts were found in external areas including the roof section. A large number
of the body parts were fuzed to a material that has beep identified as the standard uniform
for Iraqi National- Guard (ING) and Iraqi Regular Army (IRA) personnel. One section of
the Chocolate Chip pattern material was recovered with the designation label still
attached. This has been initially associated with IRA issued uniforms, and is an •
investigation line CID are following up. Sections of a canvas type material were found
in key areas, mainly where the blast pattern was identified.
