WANT TO MAKE THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT UNDER OATH:
was at Abu Ghraib (AG) from late Aug 03 until the end of Mar 04, I had two week mid-tour leave in late October to early November 03. My primary duty at Abu Ghraib AG) was as a member of the internal Reaction Force (IRF). For a penal of less than two weeks I also escorted detainees to and from interrogation sites. During my train up period after mobilization and prior to deploying to Iraq I did not receive any training in the Geneva Convention or on Interrogation Rules of Engagement (1ROE). I do not remember any training or familiarization on either at AG after my arrival. Other than the incidents which I reported to CID, I did not observe or become aware of any abuse or humiliation of detainees. I did not see or hear about any unauthorized photos or videos of detainees, until towards the middle or end of January when there was a camp wide search for photos; everyone's property was searched and all computer hard drives were examined for unauthorized photos. There was vague gossip around AG about detainees wearing pink underwear, but I did not sec it, nor did I hear of any specific instance where this occurred. On one occasion while in the scheduling building, I heard a MI SSG comment about OGA sometimes getting out of control while interrogating detainees. I told him that was something that would not occur while I was there as I would not allow it, nor would any other members of the 229th. I did observe a couple of OGA interrogations but did not see any abuse. Whenever we would hear yelling or other loud noises coming out of the interrogation areas, we would go over to see what was . going on, just to make surc everything was OK. Other than what I reported to C 'd not observe or become aware of any unauthorized use of guard dogs. Q: Is there anything you wish to add?
