Document provides an executive summary of the death of a detainee, Manadal Al-Jamadi. Mr. Jamadi was pronounced dead at Abu Ghuraib prison on November 5, 2003. The executive summary is dated November 5, 2003 and states that "[w]hen MANADAL's body was examined, it showed recent signs of a struggle and had bruises along with a swollen right eye." EXEC{]TIVE SUMMARY .
[SECRET] DEATH OF DETAINEE- AL OAIM. IRAQ [USACIDCl: Self-Initiated.
On 26 Nov 03, MG Abed Hamed MOWHOUSH, formerly an Iraqi air defense
general officer, died during an interview by U.S. Army Military
Intelligence soldiers. MOWHOUSH was being interviewed using •stress
techniques, • and reportedly c.omplained he did not feel well and
subsequently lost consciousness. Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation was
initiated, but was ineffectiVe. According .to the on-site surgeon it
appeared MOWHOUSH died of natural causes. However, an examination of
MOWHOUSH's remains by a CID Forensic Science Officer revealed fresh
pattern contusions.·to his torso. This evidence of blunt-forc;e trauma
led CID to ques.tion the· circumstances· of the death. Investigation
revealed MOWHOUSH was interviewed another governmental organization on
24 and 25 Nov 03. An autopsy of MOWHOUSH by the Armed Forces Medical
Examination is scheduled for 1 Dec 03.
