Joel,
Here's some more info from the Wafd article. Our FSNs say they have not seen any other media pick this up and run with it thus far.

Jim:
I thought it was an (not you) who wanted the Wafd article. I finished it early yesterday and sent it to him. Here it is:
Al-Wafd, June 26, 2004, p. 3
Mohamed Abdel Moneim Al-Azmeerly was an Egyptian scientist working in Iraq for 30 years. He had a prominent status in Iraq that made the Americans put him on the list of 200 scientists who must be physically liquidated. Due to his outstanding research and knowledge, the Iraqi government granted him citizenship because he wanted to marry an Iraqi. British newspapers reported last February that Al-Azmeerly died inside one of the American detention camps in Iraq when he fell to the ground and hit his head. On the other hand, the medical report issued by the American Forces in Iraq claimed that he died of "meningitis." What really happened is that AI-Azmeerly's head was smashed from behind and that torture marks were found all over his body, in addition to wounds above the left eye. Al-Azmeerly's relatives are calling on Egyptian officials to find his body and send it to Egypt for burial. They are also calling on the ministries of Foreign Affairs and Interior to facilitate the return of his wife and children from

Iraq. In the wake of Al-Azmeerly's death, Muslim Brotherhood Parliamentarian Dr. Hamdy Hasan submitted a request for information to Ahmed Maher on the MFA measures to protect Egyptian scientists in Iraq from the atrocities committed by the U.S. occupation forces. Parliamentarian Mohamed Al-Badrasheeni also demanded an investigation and submitted a request for information on measures to free Egyptian prisoners in Abu Gharieb.
(N.B. Al-Azmeerly was specialized in "polymer macro molecules" Which is used in all military industries, including missiles and aircraft.)
