Subject: RE: Training for Treatment of Prisoners
Want to publish guidance for specific pre deployment training required for units going
over to perform detainee mission ... Previous guidance has stated all units must be
proficient in METL derived for mission ... But didn't address each type unit.
Talked w/ MG Barrett yesterday ... He says you all have recommended tasks ... Would
appreciate your help here
Also, looking at what training should be required of all soldiers prior to deployment ...
Already require Law of Land Warfare and handling of POWs ... Any other tasks you'd
recommend?
Thanks,
