An email regarding an FBI agent who had recently reported to Mary F. Rook about possible misconduct from his military deployment in Iraq. The agent ran into another FBI employee who ran an "under the radar" detainee facility in Iraq where prisoner abuse occurred, and the agent had first-hand knowledge regarding the employee's "egregious" involvement in the abuse. The agent was told to document everything and provide as much specific information as possible.

• FYI, I just received a call froml Ian agent in Sacramento, regarding possible misconduct (he
called me after trying to reachc:=Jand finding she was on leave). He advised that he recently returned from
military deployment in Iraq. While over there, he ran into another FBI employee who was also on a military
deployment. This employee ran a detainee facility in Iraq where prisoner abuse occurred. The Sacramento
agent was somewhat circumspect over the phone, given the nature of the information, but indicated that the
detainee facility was operated "under the radar." He also stated that he had first-hand knowledge regarding the
employee's involvement in the abuse, some of which was egregious. He reported this information up his chain
of command in DOD, but is uncertain if they are taking any action.
I told him to document everything and provide as much specific information as possible. He indicated he will
do so, and FedEx is to us, probablythis week.
