Gentlemen: CO~vantedme to touch base with you all regarding the recent initiation ofa CrD InvestIgation into alleged incident of detainee abuse in C/5-20 IN. Obviously, in light ofthe recent events at Abu Gharib, even the perception of detainee maltreatment or abuse by us soldiers has the potential to lead to unwanted media attention, further investigations, as"~well as the chain of command having to answer to allegations of which they might not have any knowledge. COL_ntent is to gather all information that might exist concerning detainee abuse or m~ntsince we started conducting detainee operations in Pacesetter-the purpose of which is not to assign blame or execute punishment, but to possess all relevant information regarding any incident of detainee abuse or maltreatment that the battalions' chains ofcommand might be aware of-even if there doesn't appear to be much credence to a particular claim. r will be compiling any information that might you might have for COL_Thank you,
VIR
