On 17 May 04, this office w otified by SA _during a review of documentsconcerning detainee _ , Afghani National,reported in July 2002 he had been beaten while detained in a U.S. Controlled detention facility in Afghanistan. This information is forwarded to your organization for action deemed appropriate under separate cover.

Request that this office be notified of any significant developments in this investigation and a copy of your final report be provided to this office when completed.

Special importance to this .office is the timely notification of any indictment, conviction, or . judgment involving defense contractors in order to effect administrative remedies and/or parallel proceedings.

He could not reference any verses from the Qur'an
regarding the killing of innocent women and children
although he claimed to have been a teacher of the Qur'an
before being captured. He is offended by the killing of
innocent women and children.

He believes suicide is unlawful and forbidden in
Islam. These are acts of extremists. The Qur'an does not
specifically address suicide but refers to it in general.

He never attended any schools while growing up; he
started working with his father at a young age. He
received Qur'an training only.

He did not know any of the following people:

He is the only child in his family.. He attended the
funeral of his parents a year and a half ago in Khartoum,
Sudan.

He only taught the basics of the Qur'an such as
reciting. He could not recall any verses in the Qur'an
referring to dishonesty. He believes a person is wrong to
be dishonest.

He was in Khowst when the U.S. started bombing.

He surrendered to Pakistani authorities at Peshawar;
he does not remember the name of the Afghani who helped him
get across the border.

He did not witness any atrocities committed by
Northern Alliance forces.

He spent only four months in Afghanistan and not two
years.

He denied being the doctor at Camp Farouq.
