was eager to talk and prove his innocence. At one point / asked the detainee
about any medical conditions that he has had or might currently have.
2. Detainee stated that approximately two days ago, which would he on or
about 5 July 2004, he was kicked twice in the back by a guard. I exploited
this with detainee and he revealed the following.
3. Be stated that he was in line to receive water and was made to squat and look at the ground. The guards were yelling at him and then one of them kicked him in the back, forcing him to land on his face and bands. The
yelling continued and he got back into the squat position. He was then kicked in the back again and fell forward to the ground. Detainee stated this all occurred near the watering point and he was with several other detainees who were about to receive water.
4. When I asked the detainee if be was kicked or pushed, be made a gesture with his foot, which appeased like someone placing there boot on the middle of his back and pushing him to the ground. Detainee was asked if was hurt and he replied no. Detainee was in tears during the entire explanation of this incident. We made comments that the guards do not respect the detainees, and that he older than all the guards here. )e also took this opportunity to complain about the eating conditions and compared the day-today operations of the detention facility to those used by the Beat ?arty.
