<p>An investigation into the death on August 22, 2003 of Mohamed Tariq Zaid, a detainee at Armor Battalion Detention Facility, Baghdad, Iraq. The investigation states that Mr. Zaid was discovered lying on the ground with shallow respirations and decreased sweating. He was found to have an axillary temperature of 102 degrees.&nbsp; He was pronounced dead on arrival at Kadamiya University Hospital. The investigation concluded that the cause of death was a heat stroke and that the manner of death was accidental. An autopsy was conducted.</p>

Investigation disclosed while Mr. ZAID was being detainee at the 1/13 th Armor Bn Detention Facility, Baghdad, Iraq, when he was found lying on the ground with shallow respirations and decreased sweating. Emergency medical services were summoned and Mr. ZAID was found to have an axillary temperature of 102 degrees and decreased oxygen saturation. Mr. ZAID was then transported to Kadamiya University Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The autopsy report reflected Mr. ZAID's cause of death as Heat Related and the manner of death was Accidental. A review of the files of the previous deployed detachment disclosed Significant Data File 0101-03-CID899 was initiated to document the death of Mr. Mr. ZAID. STATUTES: N/A FOIR-OFF Attached: -/ 1.
