During that time, Detainee the guards and interpreters abused him almost continuously. According to e ainee the abuse generally took several forms. The first method he described was, while handcu a an hooded, persons unknown would fill his jump suit with ice and then hose him down with cold water and make him stand for long periods of time. The second method was to fill his jump suit with ice and hose him down and then make him stand in front of an air conditioner for long periods of time. The third method was to place him in a supine force him to drink water until he gagged, vomited, or choke. Another method of abuse Detainee de-scribed was to have his hooded h ban ed against a hot steel plate while being ques lone . The fifth method of abuse Detainee escribed was being force to do leg lifts with bags of ice place on top of his ankles until he was ex austed. Date of Incident: Various occurrences from 12 March 2004 through 07 June 2004. Type of Incident: Physical abuse, unauthorized approach. '. '.'"•.• -.•.... . .. ..,.• . Statement: Detainee was captured by C 12-3 Infantry on 12 March 2004. Detainee was a BDE Target. When the unit came to the detainee's house, detainee was • handcuffed behind the back. Detainee was brought to a place that was nicknamed "The Guest Welcoming House". Detainee only knows that this place is located in Mosul, 12. The next morning, the detainee was brought to a place that was nicknamed "The Disco", as there was music playing all day and night. Detainee does not know the exact location 'of The Disco, but knows it is somewhere near the Mosul Airport. Detainee claims that he was blindfolded by a bag over his head. Detainee claims that, while at The Disco, ice was poured into his suit, and then water was poured on him. Sandbags were placed on the detainee's head and shoulders. Detainee also claims that stones were thrown at him. • Detainee claims that he was struck by a translator during one of the interrogation sessions. Detainee was struck on the side of the face, while his mouth was open, causing a wound inside of his mouth. Detainee claims that the translator struck him becapse the • translator believed that he was lying. Detainee described the translator as having Iraqi accent. Detainee claims that he was brought out into the sun, was grabbed by the bag over his head, and his head was beaten against a steel plate until he lost consciousness. Detainee did not know how many times or the dates he was tortured Detainee claims • that, in order to stop thelorture, he went the Al-Mansour region of Mosul, where he lives, and falsely identified friends of his as Anti-Coalition. Detainee claims that he also signed • the sworn statements taken by him only to stop the torture. Detainee changed his story, saying that they took the blindfold off for the last few days he was at The Disco. Detainee described the uniforms on the soldiers as standard 'U.S. Military uniforms. The soldiers wore a patch with an Indian head on it Detainee described The clothes of the • translator as military pants, although slightly lighter in color, and wearing an aqua colored T-shirt.
