rhe lr9q Major General in the word document below died suddenly two days ago, and at the moment unexplained.
I 1. our FSO went .out to the body today, 27 Nov 03, and stated the MG does have bruising that could be
:onslstent with butt strucks from a weapon, but not sure. . ·
'
lifrom Grp is in the ·loop and this and 1 have CC'ed him on this email. We need to get some forensic Pathologist
~m AFIP to do an autopsy on this guy ASAP. We are having the body moved from out west to here at BIAP so
·,e autopsy will be here. It was suggested to get the doc out of GM, but I know that person is on leave this week.
'lease advise direct on what type of a time frame we are looking at to get the doc, his support, and combat camera person
1ere so we can make arrangements to house them and pick theni up at the airport here at Baghdad.

We took ~ look at the body at mortuary affairs in Al Asad. There are a number of
contusions and a number of pa~tern contusions. Some are consistant with a long straight
edge instrument and others are consistant with an object like the end of an M-16. It may
not be that specifically, but something of that nature.
The B2nd ABD Div released a press report saying that· the MG died of natural causes. I do
not believe we can say that and an autopsy is in -orde~ to determine manner and cause of
death.
Our game plan for tomorrow is to JTIOVe· out to the prison at 0.700 and start interviews of
medical and. army personnel. I do not think we should move on to OGAs or-other agencies.
We will try 'to identify the other players that should be looked at through our int.erviews.
We will then try: to. move back to Ar Ramadi by. air in the evening and do the mass grave
mission on 29 .No~ 03.
The Regimental-commander has concerns dealing with the security aspects of this
investigation and anything dealing with this should be made at least secret.
SA ~has contact names and numbers to contact us here.
