L BACKGROUND:
As with other medical facilities, infection control practices exist to pi'Otret both the health

care winter and the patient from coetracting infectious &ease. In that regard, infection
control policies shall be no dif3xent than those outlined in reference (a). However,

given
the uniqueness of the mission, certain measures need be sddressed. Detainees are native to • region plagued by a number of infectious diseases. It is estimated that a number ofthese detainees will carry one or more of these Massa upon urrival.
IL POLICY:
Disraeli, treatment, mid prevention of these &senses will be conducted. Operating

procedures oudined in reference (a) will be Mowed where applicable. Infections wastewill be handled in accordance with reference (b).
DI. RESPONSIBILITY:
The medial officer-in•cherp (2401C) under the advisement of the public health officer
and infectious disease consultant will coordinate this effort. Specifically, the MGIC is
responsible for diagnosis and treatment as well as recommending measures for isolation
of patients and *ea health protection. The public health officer is responsible for
cfisease rt portin& sanitetion, and WON COMMA as well as recornmemling methods of
isolation and requirements for force health proemial.

IV. PROCEDURE:
An immunization policy will exist and be continually evaluated. Td and Tb will begiven when appropriate per the tams prophylaxis protocol. Empiric therapies will

include albenthaole 400 mg. mailognine 1250 mg.
